Summary
In our Tax Manager role, you will communicate with our clients to get an understanding of their businesses and how we can help them be successful. This will include performing various aspects of tax compliance, projections, tax notice response, assistance with special projects, and communicating with clients while building relationships. The Tax Manager position also includes supervising and developing the junior members of the tax team and supporting the partners.
Essential Functions
+ Assist staff in handling routine questions and audits from federal or state agencies.
+ Act as primary client contact on assigned clients.
+ Provide clients with timely top-quality service by instilling a service commitment in associates and seniors while providing adequate direct supervision at all stages of the engagement.
+ Assist client by advising them of potential tax implications of business decisions and recommending alternate courses of action, as appropriate.
+ Successfully manage the planning, administration, and conclusion of client engagements.
+ Perform primary and secondary review of tax returns and written tax advice, as appropriate.
+ Supervise preparation of tax workpapers.
+ Participate in billing discussions and lead billing activities for clients as appropriate.
+ Review tax law developments and determines which developments apply to clients.
+ Recognize potential tax technical issues. Work with partners and other client service team members and appropriate experts to manage timely resolution.
+ Identify and bring to the partner’s attention potential high-risk engagement issues.
+ Directly supervise junior staff.
+ Conduct in-house training.
+ Assist with the develop of department policies and procedures, as necessary.
Position Requirements
+ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or other relevant degree program
+ CPA license required
+ Seven to twelve years of public accounting experience, preferred
+ Minimum two years previous supervisory experience
+ Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
+ Ability to multi-task with excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ Must be able to meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment
